Glamorous Newborn

Well, Joni is starting her life in the spotlight. She looked a little yellow on Sunday morning when we got up, so Monday I called the doctor and got her in to have her bilirubin level checked and it was high enough that they felt it would be most beneficial to have her put in the hospital to be put under bili lights in addition to a bili blanket. She was admitted around 1:00 p.m. and got to wear the cute little sunglasses, strip down to a diaper and lay around! The Portneuf Medical Center in Pocatello is very nice hospital. The nurses and doctor are also super nice! The doctor said he wasn't sure if the first reading, at 25, was very accurate because in the hour it took us to get into Pocatello and when they took the test again it was significantly lowered to a 19. By Tuesday morning it was down to a 16. The doctor released her about noon and we headed home! She still looks a little yellow and has a bili blanket at home, but Thursday we retest and find out if we can ditch that too! While we were in there, the first nurse said that her first husband was a mission companion to Russ Rollins and the second nurse grew up in Big Piney, WY and knew some of the same people we know! Small, small world!! Justin and the boys came over on Monday night and visited. I would like to think it was because they missed their mom, but I am pretty sure it was because they wanted to make sure their little sister was doing o.k.!

The Newest Member of our Family!

For all those of you who voted for a girl - YOU WERE RIGHT!

Joni Ann Ellis was born on Friday, February 20, 2009 at 12:57 p.m. She weighed a petite 6 lbs. 9 oz. (which is perfect for a girl!) She was 19 1/2 inches long. For those of you who thought we would name her Cinderella, Monte will be calling her that anyway. She is definitely going to be a spoiled princess! There is no lack of willing arms to hold her and entertain. We are sharing the introduction video and some other shots. Hopefully she likes pink!

Moving Day is Here (and gone)!

Wait a minute . . . Is this a bad rerun of the movie Groundhog Day!? I thought we already moved, just a month ago!
It is true - we did move again and this time it is to the permanent house that we will be staying in. It just takes me way too long to post. Hopefully I can get better at posting in a more timely manner! We moved from the Utah side of the ranch to the Idaho side of the ranch. Just in time to be ready for the baby to be born! Last Saturday we had more help than we could have dreamed of! About 15 men from church came and helped with some of the wives, Farm Bureau friends Kimmel and Chris brought friends Brett and Jerika. Austin and Maysi, which happen to be relatives and live here in Malad came and helped too! It was a great big party! The kids went downstairs and had lots of fun while we were getting the kitchen settled and the men were bringing boxes in by the loads. Needless to say, the job was done in record
time! We feel very blessed to have such wonderful friends, neighbors and family! All that moving and I still didn't even get any contractions! This baby knows where it wants to be! Friday, yes tomorrow, is the day to be induced! We will let everyone know and we will post pictures so everyone can enjoy!
